March 28th 2018 ~

March 28th 2018 ~

The House Health, Education, and Welfare committee in the RI statehouse will hear four bills that relate to the topic of informed consent and the HPV vaccine.

3 bills are good bills, and one bill is very NOT good.

*The philosophical exemption bill (H 7686) http://webserver.rilin.state.ri.us/BillText/BillText18/HouseText18/H7686.pdf

*The parental choice bill (H 7576) http://webserver.rilin.state.ri.us/BillText/BillText18/HouseText18/H7576.pdf    This bill gives the ability to write a note for any non casual contact disease vs needing an exemption form.

* the informed consent bill (H 7704) http://webserver.rilin.state.ri.us/BillText/BillText18/HouseText18/H7704.pdf

*OPPOSE the database tracking bill (H 7882)
http://webserver.rilin.state.ri.us/BillText/BillText18/HouseText18/H7882.pdf
The tracking bill is extra concerning since most people are unaware that the RI Dept of Health tracks all children from birth in their KidsNet database since 1999. There is no opt out option, and it is not set up as opt in. This new bill will make that same database for all residents in RI, and it tracks much more then just vaccinations.

If you are unable to attend but still want to have your voice heard you can still submit testimony (see below) and email to admin@nohpvmandateri.com and the needed copies will be printed and submitted for you. You can also email the committee members (we suggest you do both) via www.endhpv2017.nohpvmandateri.com

The hearing will begin at the Rise of the House at about 4:30 PM, but we are asking supporters to arrive around 4PM to allow time to sign up to testify OR TO SIGN UP JUST IN SUPPORT of the bills, as you are not required to testify

BE SURE TO ADD #NOHPVmandateRI UNDER ORGANIZATION AFFILIATION WHEN SIGNING IN, this shows the committee the force of one message and group of citizens coming together is strong.

If you can’t make it by 4p, Comment in this event or msg The FB page m.facebook.com/riagainsthpvmandate to be signed in ahead of your arrival to be sure you are signed in with the clerk.

We suggest that you submit a page or two of relevant documentation such as your story of vaccine injury, government documents, science, etc. You’re testimony is much more powerful with written documentation and will be kept in the record if it is written down. Though only your personal opinion is still good too.

If you choose to submit written testimony:

~ You will need to make 38copies total – the house will need 23 copies, the senate will need 15, these will be handed into the clerk. (senate hearing TBT)
~ Include your name and bill number(s) at the top of your testimony
~ Please do not submit a verbatim script of your testimony. Use this as your opportunity to enrich your verbal statements with evidence, more information that you did not have time to say etc. You can submit written testimony only if you don’t wish to speak on the microphone.
~ Be brief and concise. You should keep testimony under two pages.

For those who are new to testifying would like more information see below:

10 tips to testifying before a committee

~ If you can get to the hearing room early, you can sign in with the clerk in room 101 for the house committee (HEW) hearings
~ They are usually very strict about the 2 minute time limit when you testify. It may be helpful to write out a page of testimony in advance and time yourself to see if you can fit all of your points into 2 minutes.  Be to the point.

Facebook Event Link ~ you can invite friends into the event which will give them a reminder via facebook notifications and share the event link on your personal wall.

May 20th in Providence RI

episode5.PNG
May 20th at the Providence Public Library, 10 am will be a screening of Episode 5 of the documentary “The Truth about Vaccines”

Episode 5 discusses the HPV vaccine and the Hep B vaccine. Multiple doctors discuss the studies and data associated, including Dr Toni Bark who traveled to RI in 2015 to speak at our event “Making Waves in the Ocean State”. Dr Bark was the director of the pediatric emergency department at a Chicago hospital.

Thanks to a wonderful volunteer named Courtney, we have the ability to present this screening. Call your legislator and invite them to attend also. Let them know you want them to see the data, and to support removing the mandate of the HPV vaccine.

Reserve your seat today, space is limited. CLICK HERE to reserve your spot.
We created a Facebook event to make it easy to invite friends and family also.

The new legislative session will begin again before we know it. The petition and the hashtag #NOHPVmandateRI needs to gain awareness again with a new fresh push.

*** Other News to Share with You***

  • Aimee was a candidate for School Committee in her town this past election and she WON! A handful of school committees passed resolutions last year to request the Governor to reverse the HPV vaccine mandate in RI. The committee Aimee just became a member of did not do that last year. Not only can Aimee advocate for this cause she can now advocate on behalf of children in her district for multiple topics. You can see her page and post congrats Here.
  • Colors of Politics is a political internet radio talk show. The host interviews different members of the general assembly and activists about topics happening here in RI. Colors of Politics is on RI Free Radio station. The show plays at 12:30p & 5:30p est daily on RIfreeRadio.org or via the Tune In app. Justin Price sponsored two bills in support of what this group mission is and was interviewed on the show too. The Facebook page has links to previous shows.

See you tomorrow,

RI DOH Advisory Committee Meeting

RI DOH Advisory Committee Meeting

RI Dept of Health is holding one of their two meetings they hold twice a year for the vaccine advisory committee. This committee is where it was discussed to bring the HPV vaccine into the mandated school schedule. It was also discussed in these meetings in the past to remove the religious exemption. It is a public meeting that everyone thought they could trust the Dept of Health to manage on their own. They have more then proven that someone needs to be listening, and reporting on their tactics.

RHODE ISLAND VACCINE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2016 7:30 – 8:30 AM

LOCATION:  RI DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ROOM 401

If you have a way to make it to the office and attend the meeting it will be an important time to show how many have eyes on them now. We understand the time of day is difficult and not easy for many. Please share this message with others too, even if you yourself are not able to attend. One of the topics planned on being discussed at this meeting is resistance to getting vaccinated. Now is the time to express why you want the ability and right to deny a vaccine and not have it mandated to attend school, with the HPVirus you can not spread it in the classroom.

Agenda for Nov 4th meeting.

Next week is the general election, keep an eye out for an email about what candidates support our mission. If you have an email or statement from a candidate on their position please forward to changehpvmandateri@gmail.com.

Speaker of the House N Mattiello just went on record this morning stating that he does not feel any vaccine related decisions are a legislative issue and it should be only held within the RI Dept of Health. District 15 is that district and S Frias is his opposition. Though we do not know Frias position on our mission, we do know that Mattiello has the ability to make getting legislation through on the house side very difficult. We strongly encourage you to vote against Mattiello on this topic.
